Indore Couple Disappears in Meghalaya

On May 20, 2025, the couple arrived in Shillong, Meghalaya, and checked into a homestay in Nongriat village. On May 23, Raja and Sonam were last seen leaving their guesthouse for a short trek. The Indore couple went missing in Meghalaya, sparking a widespread search and massive media coverage, including by India Today, The Hindu, and local Shillong news outlets.

Their rented scooter was discovered abandoned at Sohrarim, a village close to famous tourist spots. Meghalaya Police began a large-scale search involving NDRF, SDRF, and local volunteers. The mystery intensified with no signs of the couple for over a week.

Body Recovered – Shock Turns to Horror

On June 2, the decomposed body of Raja Raghuvanshi was found in a deep gorge near Wei Sawdong Falls, a popular tourist location. A blood-stained machete, a black raincoat, and torn belongings were found nearby. The case took a tragic and terrifying turn. While initially believed to be an accident, Meghalaya Police soon confirmed that Raja was murdered.

Sonam Raghuvanshi Accused: Contract Killing Allegation

As the Meghalaya case unfolded, police made a stunning claim — Sonam Raghuvanshi allegedly orchestrated the murder of her husband. Officials believe that she hired three contract killers from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. According to police, Sonam lured Raja to a remote spot on their honeymoon and helped the attackers execute the plan.

CCTV footage, mobile tracking, and witness accounts — especially from a local guide named Albert Pde — support the theory. He reported seeing the couple with three Hindi-speaking men on the trail near Mawkdok.

Arrests and Investigation

Three suspects were arrested, and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been deployed to hunt the fourth accused. Sonam herself was later found hiding in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, and surrendered to police. She is currently in custody and will be transported to Meghalaya for legal action.

Family Speaks Out: “Sonam is Innocent”

Sonam’s family, however, denies all allegations. Speaking to India Today and The Hindu epaper, her father claimed that Sonam is innocent and the Meghalaya Police are framing her. He has requested a CBI investigation into the Indore couple case. Many in Indore have joined in support, demanding a fair and impartial probe.

National Attention: From Shillong to Delhi

The Meghalaya missing couple case has caught nationwide attention. News from Shillong to Delhi is following the story closely. Headlines like “Shillong Couple Missing” and “Meghalaya Honeymoon Couple Mystery” have flooded search engines.
